ROMAN HAIRPIN

Description of Object:

Described as a copper Ladies hairpin, highly decorated on one side only, with what looks like a sword handle.

Discussion:

Hairpins can be very simple but there are really good examples out there of all manner of designs

Date of Object:

Date unknown; considered to be late Roman.

Find-spot:

Collector B L Vawdrey does not state where the hairpin was found but a large proportion of objects similar to this were known to have been found in Kinderton, Middlewich where he was once resident.

6cm x 1.2cm at its widest
